Elmo Williams Estate Sale Sneak Peek

On Friday, March 11th Gary Germer & Associates will premiere the estate of Academy Award winner Elmo Williams. Mr. Williams was an American film and television editor, producer, director and executive. His work on the film High Noon (1952) received the Academy Award for Film Editing. Among the films that Williams edited are High Noon (1952), 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (1954) and The Vikings (1958). Williams was involved in the production of The Longest Day (1962) and Cleopatra (1963) and he was a producer of the film Tora! Tora! Tora! (1970). Between 1971 and 1974 Williams was the Head of Production for 20th Century Fox. Williams edited the film Design for Death (1947), which won an Academy Award for Documentary Feature and was nominated again for 1954's 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea. In 2006, Williams published Elmo Williams: A Hollywood Memoir. Before his passing in November at 102 years old, Mr. Williams was the oldest living Academy Award winner. Mr. Williams’s estate and collections were shipped from Brookings, OR to Gary Germer & Associates in Portland. OR. We completely cleared out our gallery to host Mr. Williams’s estate. It is a wonderful collection of 18th century French and Dutch furniture, Antique architectural pieces, 18th and 17th century carved panels, corbels and garlands; Antiquities including 2nd millennium BCE Egyptian bronzes, Han and Sung Dynasty Chinese artifacts, a 15th century Northern German Armorer’s model of Equestrian Knight, a large collection of majolica pottery, antique Oriental rugs, antique textiles and jewelry from Afghanistan, Persia and Japan. This is just a small sample of what is available for sale. Mr. Williams Academy Award Oscar statue will be on display and available for photo opportunities at the estate sale beginning Friday, March 11th, 2016. Sale runs through Sunday, March 13th and is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.
